Boutique Café Granted Exclusive Access at International Quilt Market

Boutique Café’s Daria Muirhead, who hosts one of the most popular weekly podcasts featuring designers, “mompreneurs,” and even the occasional celebrity, was the hostess with the most exclusive interviews at the Spring 2008 International Quilt Market in Portland, Oregon.

Canada (PRWEB) August 21, 2008 — Boutique Café’s Daria Muirhead, who hosts one of the most popular weekly podcasts featuring designers, “mompreneurs,” and even the occasional celebrity, was the hostess with the most exclusive interviews at the Spring 2008 International Quilt Market in Portland, Oregon.

The International Quilt Market is an industry tradeshow that focuses on “the art and the business of quilting.” For vendors and buyers only, the show’s exhibitors offer everything from quilting supplies, machines, patterns and yards and yards and yards of fabric. Daria was on site as the only podcaster with permission to record the event.

The extensive and impressive list of well known and up-and-coming fabric designers interviewed by or Daria include Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, Anna Maria Horner, Sandi Henderson, Tina Givens, Gina from Quilters Buzz, Jan Lutz of The Apron Lady Designs, Michael Miller Fabrics and the list doesn’t stop there!

While attending Quilt Market, Boutique Café was invited to attend the JCaroline Fabric 2.0 Party where Daria and other Boutique Café members had the opportunity to network and meet with designers, textile artists and media.

A select number of vidcasts from the Spring 2008 International Quilt Market show are already playing and Daria will continue to release more interviews and behind-the-scenes footage over the next couple months. The vidcasts are a perfect way for those who were not able to attend to get a feel for the show and “meet” their favorite designers. They are also a fabulous way win great giveaways (visit BoutiqueCafe.com for details).

Bob Ruggiero, Director of Publications & Public Information for Quilts, Inc., was extremely pleased with Boutique Cafe’s coverage, “I’m (so) happy to have some younger and hipper coverage!” Ruggiero has invited Daria to return to the International Quilt Market show being held this fall in Houston, Texas.

A Bit About Anna Maria Horner

May 22nd, 2008

A big big thrill from my trip to Market in Portland was the time I spent with fabric designer extraordinaire Anna Maria Horner.

The first thing you notice about her is how lovely she is in person, dark gorgeous hair cut shorter in the back and tapered forward to show off her stunning features, beautiful eyes and a tremendous smile. Then when you speak to her you feel so at ease, Anna Maria is just so real and full of life. It’s impossible to be nervous around her! (though my nerves attempted it at first)

Her booth at market won first prize and it was easy to see why, a total visual feast of the most delicious fabrics, textures and patterns. Everything holding true to her unique sense of style and movement. When we sat down in the beautiful wing-back chairs en-robed in “Drawing Room” fabric, it was the perfect place to hold our little interview for Boutique Cafe.

What I didn’t expect from Anna Maria Horner was how entirely funny she is! She had me cracking up so hard at the start of our interview that we literally had to pause and start again (something about the size our our large microphone made us all laugh uncontrollably).

I hope you’ll take a peek at my Boutique Cafe interview with Anna Maria and leave a comment for her. She really was a wonderful guest and just a total thrill to be around!

Show #92 - At Market with Anna Maria Horner

May 22nd, 2008

At Market with Anna Maria Horner Over the past weekend Boutique Cafe was honored to be given special media access to the International Quilt Market in Portland. While at Market we had a chance to rub elbows and get to know so many talented fabric, pattern and quilting designers (we even got to cheer on some of our very own friends in our community!!). It was a “dream-come-true kind” of weekend. Over the coming days and weeks we’ll be sharing our video coverage with you on Boutique Cafe.

In this special episode, Daria interviews Anna Maria Horner about her new lines “Drawing Room” (and Garden Party), her love of fabric and her adoration for design. It’s an interview not to be missed! Thank you so much Anna Maria for your charm and talents, we felt honored to meet you in person. Please leave a message for Anna Maria in our shownotes today if you enjoyed her interview.
