Nap 26 for tired mommies everywhere!

August 31st, 2008

Sleep. How many of us hard working mommies feel utterly sleep deprived? I’m sure most of us will answer a resounding yes to that question. I can’t help but feel exhausted throughout the day, and with kids consistently waking in the night all this interrupted sleep takes a real toll on my body and my emotions. That’s when I was contacted about trying out a new product called Nap26™, and now I’m so excited to share this with you. Nap26

I was sent the Nap26™ sleep system digiplayer by PowrNaps to try, and though I felt a bit skeptical about listening to this device for 26 minutes and then waking to free refreshed, I knew I had to give it a whirl. The idea behind Nap26™ is that you can energize and refresh without the drowsiness that comes from sleeping too long. NASA science has shown that a 26 minute nap improves alertness in pilots, so why not moms, surely we’re more tired than pilots?!

Here’s how it works:
“NAP26™ uses Binaural Beat Technology to train the brain to relax and to awaken without risk of grogginess.
A scientific digital modulation process inserts precise pulses and beats that the brain hears. The difference in vibration between one ear and the other stimulates either deeper relaxation or alertness. You will feel like you slept for 3 hours in 26 minutes.”

Nap26™ is available as either a CD that you can easily upload to your mp3 player, or you can purchase the handy digiplayer with the preloaded mp3 right on it! When I plugged in my ear buds I was transported to a quiet place where I was told to relax and listen actively. Throughout the experience you hear the sounds of water rushing, wind blowing and ambient noise, I smiled wondering if this was really going to work. But it did work! Nap26™ ushered me into a restful sleeping state with no trouble at all, I awoke to the sound of chirping birds and sat up astonished to find myself feeling really rested. </p

What I love is that I can now take this with me anywhere, and whenever I have a 26 minutes to rejuvenate I can just plug in and revive! I've struggled alot with insomnia and strange sleep patterns since my kids were little, I'm thrilled to have found a simple and inexpensive solution to my exhaustion. Now comes the fun part, telling the people that I know about it. This would be an amazing baby shower gift to give any new mommy, Nap26™ is going on my list as one of my favorite Daily Dish products for parents. - Daria

GIVEAWAY: Nap26™ and Boutique Cafe are offering one lucky reader the chance to try this for themselves! A Nap26™ mp3 player will be sent to the winner! I’m a tired mommy for many reasons. I own my own business. My 3 year old has kidney disease and this lands us in the hospital frequently. Do you know what sleeping in the hospital is like? And I just quit taking a medication that was wrecking my REM sleep. I’ve been suffering from withdrawal from this medication for two weeks now. Sometimes I think I’m the sleepiest mom alive. Thanks!

  2. stacysews says:

I’m a tired mommy because I have a 4 month old who really doesn’t like sleep – either at night or naps! 26 minutes is perfect….that’s about ho long he naps in the afternoon.

  3. Mrs. Tantrum says:

I have a 4 year old who only sleeps for 6 hours. That’s it. That’s all it has ever been…On top of that he has Asperger’s and I help my husband run our business plus two of my own. If I ever get to sleep at a reasonable hour someone or something inevitably wakes me up and needs me to do something like wipe their butt! Coffee is my blood, but seriously it doesn’t even work all the time anymore…26 minutes would be perfect since he will be in afternoon preschool for 3 hours this fall! I could use 26 minutes to get some real rest and then continue about the crazy day and feel GREAT!

  4. Tired Mom of Four says:

I’m a tired mom for many reason, most of those reasons are my four precious little demons…err, I mean children. My 2 year old DOES. NOT. SLEEP. through the night! I am up between 3-4 times a night with her, have my 5 year old waking me up….and she is also an EARLY riser. Top that with a 15 year old who likes the TV too loud and wants to stay up late, and an 18 year old who drives (driving=worried momma). I run my own business and I’m also chef, maid, chauffer, entertainment coordinator, landscaper and nurse….shew, I’m tired!

  5. Kirsten Slichter says:

This looks interesting, Daria. Yeah, I feel a bit skeptical, so I would love to try it for free! ;-)

I am a tired mommy because I work full time outside the home, run two busy businesses, winipoo jewelry and Online Image Solutions, and do my best to keep my house livable and some substance in the bellies of my three growing kiddos. Almost every evening, I am working until 2 or 3 a.m., only to wake up at 6 a.m. to start all over again. If this device is for real, I think it would help me tremendously over my lunch break at work.

    Thank you!

  6. daria says:

Kirsten, I’ve tried this 4 times now since writing up the review and it’s worked for me. Crazy as it sounds I know!! I’ve awoke refreshed and shocked each time. LOL!!

  7. Patty/MODKID says:

WOW, Daria! This thing sounds like a dream (no pun intended!) I’ve battled insomnia since I was very young and it has only worsened since I had my children and started my own business. To top it off I suffer from iron deficiency so I find myself tired throughout the day. I have tried just about everything out there (even prescription medications) to get a restful night of sleep but they have all been unsuccessful. Even over the counter medicines like NyQuil or Benadryl (which usually ause everyone else to pass out) have the opposite effect on me… they keep me up all night! It’s surely maddening! I’m skeptical about this device but at this point I’m willing to try anything just to get some well-deserved rest. :)

So glad it worked for you!!

    Sleep yay!!! With 6 kiddos I haven’t slept in the past 5 years I would LOVE a 26 minute nap :o )
    Thanks for the opportunity Daria!

    That sounds really cool, Daria!

  10. Tara R. says:

    I’m a tired mommy!!!

  11. Debi says:

My sleepless nights are two fold. One I have vertigo issues – and laying down brings on more episodes than being upright! If I roll over or turn my head just right, the dizziness will start and it will be so bad it will wake me (and sometimes make me run for the bathroom!). Once I finally do get truly asleep, my little terror of a shih tzu picks that moment to whine for some odd reason. Somedays I simply walk around chanting, “please, I just want one full night of sleep.” I try to power nap now when I get the chance, but I’m so tired I can’t wind down, if that makes any sense. I’d love the opportunity to try this product and see if it can lull me to some much needed sleep! Thanks for sharing the info.

  12. Anita says:

I am a tired mom. Very busy trying to help launch bonita botanicals. Also, getting ready to publish my mother’s short stories. She always wanted to be an author and unfortunately she died in 2004. I found all her stories and poems. This would be a tribute to her. I have an extremely active 5 year old. I have trouble sleeping at night with many worrys. Was in the mortgage industry and now unemployed for the first time in my life. Just trying to find a new career.

  13. Connie says:

I’ve heard of this before and wanted to try it! I’m a tired Mom because I have fibro and other chronic illnesses. My daughter also has sleep issues and wakes up during the night. Although she’s old enough to stay in her own bed I hear her wake up because I don’t sleep well. Add to that my husband snores!
    What fun!

  14. Naomi says:

Jasper is 14 months old and has yet to sleep through the night. He usually wakes about every two and a half hours. His big sister is four and is full of energy, too. I am so, so tired!

I don’t think I sleep near as well as I used to after having my 2 little ones who are 27 and 12 months. There are many times that I know I could use a nice nap.

  18. Jennifer says:

Why am I tired….do you have few hours lol

I am tired because my one year old still has yet to sleep through the night and when I get up in the morning with very little sleep I homeschooling my two older children in 4th and 10th grades as well as make plans to get my jewelry business with my middle daughter off the ground. I would love to win this :-) Thanks for the chance!!!

My 5-month-old has decided that it’s a good idea to start waking up every two hours after I go to bed. And I’m starting a crafting business so I need to work on projects after SHE goes to bed….the bags under my eyes may be the latest rage in reusable totes!!

  20. Lea-Ann says:

I am tired out because I am completely anemic, and have three kids that are always ON THE GO! They have SO much energy (ages range from 1 to 11!). It’s hard to find time to catch up on sleep when they seem to be on the go ALL THE TIME! This looks like a great gizmo!

  21. Alice Hansen says:

I’m due with my first this month and I’m already tired! I know it will get worse before it gets better – this sounds like a great product. Thanks for the chance!

  22. Marci says:

I’m tired because I need to take vitamins. I have discovered that the B vitamins in mulpitle vitamins make me more sensitive to the cold which I am allergic to and I get horrible hives. The Nap 26 won’t cure my problem but it will probably help me sleep better.

  23. Ellie says:

I would love to try this. I’m tired because I work evenings and have a 2 year old. I try to nap with him, but I don’t want to waste a full 2 hours of baby-free time. 26 minutes would be perfect!

  24. Patti says:

  25. sarah buki says:

Ever since my son was re-circumcised a month ago (yeah, they messed up first time round and had to be redone) he has not been sleeping well. The other night he was up every two hours… no wonder why im still tired in the mornings.

  26. rockle says:

I am tired because of baby, work, diapers, work, dishes, work, snoring, work, red tape since we’re adopting, work, World of Warcraft, work, and the return of fall TV. I would literally use this at work — lie down on the couch in the ladies’ room and take a little nap. This is a GREAT IDEA and a fantastic giveaway.

  27. Jennae @ Green Your Decor says:

I’m tired because I have too much to do throughout the day. Running my own business is exhausting, but I hate taking naps because they always last longer than I had planned. Knowing that I would sleep for exactly 26 minutes would allow me to ease my mind a whole lot!

  28. Rebecca C says:

I am tired because I have a 3 year old. Seems like enough said, but she is crazy energetic! She wakes up early and keeps going until bed time, how do they have all that energy? I would like to borrow some!

I’m tired because I have an almost-2-year-old daughter and am six months pregnant with my second child. I would love to win this!

Well, I have two very active 10 month old twin girls. And I have been trying to get my body back and have been training to run a 10K that is this Saturday. AND I’ve been staying up too late these past couple of nights reading a really good book. I need some serious ZZZZZZZZ’s!

  36. Katie says:

The season hasn’t even peaked yet, and we’ve got three heading in already. The luck of the draw means at least one of them is going to hit, so you have to be ready. That’s why I’m so tired these days especially!

I am tired, with everyday life and when I get to bed early my mind doesn’t settle, so i find that I can’t sleep anyway. 52. Mary @ Adventures in Mommyland says:

I am tired out because my daughter is 2 1/2 and is deep in the throes of the terrible twos. Some days I just really don’t know what to do! =( I need a nice long nap. Good thing I’m going on a cruise in less than 2 days with my hubby and friends and we’ll be kid free for 6 days. Hallelujah! Thank god for grandmas. Great giveaway, thanks!

  53. Ginny says:

I’m tired for many reasons. I have 2 daughters. One is a tween who thinks she is a teen. My youngest wants to be homeschooled, so I have to fight with her to go to school. We have major major money problems right now, a month behind on almost every bill & a couple that are 2 months behind. Hubby found a new job & hopefully this one will actually pay for the work he does (which seems rare in carpentry in MI) Plus my mom is really sick, so I help her out & deal with the stress of family issues. I need sleep :)

  54. Sundi says:

I really need some good sleep! I am pregnant, have 2 toddlers, a bad mattress, and a snoring husband!

  57. Suzie G says:

I’ve got two kids- a toddler who’s just finishig up the terrible twos, does that even need any more explaination, and a 6 month old who’s teething and doesn’t like to sleep. I’m lucky if I have both in bed by midnight, and even more lucky if I can fall asleep before one of them wakes up wanting to nurse or go downstairs and play (I’ll let you guess which is which). Of course, my toddler could be woken up with the drop of a pin, or her younger brother waking up, and go figure their father wouldn’t wake up if the smoke alarm went off… Is it any wonder I’m always so exhausted and I wake up in the morning feeling like I havn’t gotten much sleep (err… maybe I really haven’t…). Then when my fiance gets home at 3:30 he says, “You look tired, why don’t you go rest.” I lay in bed for 10 minutes just thinking about all the stuff that happened that day, all the tasks I didn’t complete, all the stuff that needs to be done by the next day, allthe stuff that will ensue before the children are in bed that night… How am I supposed to take a nap with all that on my mind?? Nap26… take me away!

  58. Kimberly says:

I’m too old for this Mom stuff! My kids are grown and I thought they were gone….but one of them is back and now I’m staying at home with my granddaughters. One of them is 4 years old and the other is a newborn. WOW! I thought it was tough the first time around. These two completely wear me out! When either DH or DS get home in the evenings, I practically collapse. A power nap sounds like heaven!! Thanks for the chance to win your great giveaway!

  59. Natasha says:

Sleep!!! I never thought it would be such a luxury!!! My little guy does NOT like to sleep…he fights it tooth and nail! Even as he drifts to sleep after being extremely tired, he babbles to himself in an attempt to stay awake! Then, when he finally does sleep, he wakes at the slightest things…say, a suckie falls out of his mouth, omg the world has ended!! If I’m not there to put it back in right away, we’re up for at least another hour. So in addition to getting almost no sleep, the sleep I do get is spent half awake listening for sounds that a suckie has popped out!! Now, we have our own small business, so the ’sleep when your baby sleeps’ advice is useless. Chores can wait, but business paper work can not…trust me, the government is serious about their deadlines for submissions!! I would love to try this, trust me, anything that might help with not feeling run down all the time would be a miracle (and my new best friend)!!

  60. EG says:

Sounds fascinating! I love to nap, but it’s never quick and I always wake up more tired. I’m tired out because my husband has developed a touch of insomnia and when he’s laying there awake, I can’t sleep!

  65. Mom of 3 peas says:

Hmm…why am I tired. My 2 year old son recently passed away from a long 9 month battle w/cancer – during which time we moved and I had our 3rd child. I’m a stay at home mom of a 6 year old and 1 1/2 year old. I have started a non-profit in my son’s honor. I’ve started a product review blog. I’m on my MOPs steering. I don’t eat and exercise properly and I don’t go to bed early enough. I could use a beneficial way to power nap!

  66. SECAVEN says:

i’m wore out because i work too much, clean too much, take care of everyone (4 kids) and run errands until the cows come home. i have dogs & cats that need as much attention as the 4 kids. finally, i get to bed and then the baby starts crying! i do manage to get a few hours of sleep just to start all over again. ho! hum!

  67. Caryn Bailey says:

I’m tired because I have a 14 month old son who doesn’t quite sleep through the night and I work long hours as a nurse…
