FRS gives you energy without the post-energy crash
June 22nd, 2008
My daily energy boost is Dove dark chocolate and a can of Diet Coke—probably not the healthiest option even if dark chocolate has those great antioxidants. I ought to try getting a full night’s rest, but because that’s probably still a few years away I was excited to try FRS, a new line of energy products I found via the Hungry Girl website.
The FRS (Free Radical Scavenger) formula was created in 1997 after 7 years of research into the benefits of plant-based antioxidants on human health. You can read more in-depth research here. FRS Healthy Energy combines quercetin, which is a natural, powerful antioxidant found in fruits and vegetables, with 7 essential vitamins. “Quercetin helps extend your body’s natural energy and fight fatigue caused by oxidants that build up in your body from daily activity, exercise and stress.” One can of FRS Healthy Energy has the same amount of flavonoid antioxidants as 3 servings of blueberries, 8 servings of red onions or 10 servings of raspberries. (Kind of reminds me of the Total cereal commercials…why eat 10 servings of raspberries when you can drink just one can of FRS Healthy Energy!)
FRS Healthy Energy comes in four different variations: cans, concentrate, powdered drink mix and soft chews. I was able to review all four, and I have to say the Low Cal Orange and Peach Mango concentrates were my favorite, followed by the same flavors in the cans. I wasn’t a big fan of the powdered mix but they’re a great way to take your Healthy Energy with you. The Orange soft chews tasted almost like an orange Starburst, but because I’m a calorie counter I had a hard time wasting 40 calories on a soft chew even if it was for added energy. Though I didn’t have scientific research to back it up, I felt like I got the quickest energy boost from the concentrate. FRS says you should feel the effects within about 30 minutes, but the company says it may take some people a few days to start to feel the positive effects
FRS can also enhance your focus and alertness and support overall weight management. My favorite use for FRS was to take it about 30 minutes before a workout so I not only had the energy to get on the treadmill but had the energy to exercise just a little harder (so I could have an extra Dove chocolate or two later). On what I think is an impressive and important side note, Lance Armstrong recently joined FRS’ Board of Directors and chose FRS as the exclusive beverage he represents worldwide:
... FRS fits in line with me wanting to live to be ninety, wanting to keep running marathons, riding my bike, being fit and having fun. A lot of people just reach for a coffee or supercharged energy drinks when they need a little pick me up, but I believe our lifestyles and the daily choices we make are some of the most important decisions we face.As an athlete and a cancer survivor I’ve got a responsibility to myself to think about my long term health when I put something in my body. After studying the antioxidant science behind FRS, I feel confident in making it a part of my daily routine.
Sounds like a quality endorsement if you ask me! If you’re tired of the low that comes after the Diet Coke and chocolate high then incorporate FRS Healthy Energy into your daily routine. It’s a tasty way to get your “daily allowance of enhanced mental focus, increased performance and the energy to keep you going”...and we could all use some of that!—Emily

I really like the sounds of the low cal peach mango. It would be a great substitute for my current vice of Diet Pepsi Max. I know that’s not good for me and especially not in the quantities I drink it in. The sodium alone is a no-no. I’d love to try out a healthier alternative like this!

Hello, Sounds like a very interesting, helpful energy product. I like the ready to drink version!
I also like the 25 calories. For me, it would replace Gatorade which actually is a lot of sugar. Please enter me in your fantastic giveaway drawing. Thanks, Cindi

June 24th, 2008 at 6:28 am
I would like to try the wildberry in a can, but the peach-mango concentrate sounds good too! It would replace my Diet Coke.
June 24th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I need something to replace my coffee addiction.
The low-cal canned peach mango sounds good. I’m intrigued by the powdered drinks, but I don’t like the flavors. The same is true of the softchews.
June 24th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
I’ve started a diet, and I need to lose about 200 pounds. This kind of energy drink might help me have the energy to make it through the day when I’m sagging. I’ve tried a wide variety of energy drinks before, and even blogged reviews of them.
June 24th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
peach sounds peachie, one of my favorite flavors!
June 24th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
I’d love to try the canned berry flavor – thanks for the contest!
June 24th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
I think the low-cal peach mango sounds perfect for my husband who has quite the caffeine addiction from coffee and mt dew!
June 24th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Everyone soudsn great, especially the Wild Berry, would replace all those Rock Star energy drinks I have one the weekend!!
June 24th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
The cans and the concentrate both sound good. The lo-cal berry sounds esp good.
June 24th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Cans or concentrate would be great to feed my diet coke lust…
June 24th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
I think I would like to try the Lemon Lime; sustained energy and health. The cans are great or actually, I would love to try any of the products. I live on coca cola and cupcakes. I am tryin’ though!
thank you so much for the quite generous giveaway and for the review!

Low cal peach mango in a can….to replace my daily coke!
June 24th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
I have used FRS before and I honestly LOVE it! I have used their powdered drink mix. My favorite is orange. It reminds me of when I was little and I used to drink Tang.
I like how it makes me feel and I love the powdered mixes because they fit easily into your purse so you can mix a drink whenever you feel like you need a bit of a boost.
I’m a huge coffee drinker. I would replace some of my “cup of Joe” with the FRS if I won.
Thank you for the generous prize offering!
June 24th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
The low-cal cans would replace RockStar (Diet) and all the different “vitamin” waters I drink each day.
June 24th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
For me it would be the orange or possibly the lemon-lime. It would replace, um, the mountain dew I have once, maybe two, ok, several times a day!
June 24th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I can’t quit caffine…I’ve tried. Maybe this would help. I’d love to try the berry flavor.
June 24th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I’m not a calorie counter, so I’d love those orange soft chews. It would replace my Coke
June 24th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
The low cal Peach mango concentrate sounds like the best for me. It would probably replace my Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi.

I’d like to try the lemon lime or lo cal peach. It would replace my calorie laden vitamin waters. Great giveaway, thanks!
June 24th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
The low-cal Wild Berry sounds perfect for myself and hubby, it would help us kick our Diet Dew habits . . .
June 25th, 2008 at 5:36 am
Lo cal wild berry sounds great. It would replace my vanilla latte.
June 25th, 2008 at 8:28 am
My husband could really use this. He spends all day being a principle and then drives an hour for a 3 hour class and then an hour back home. He is so exhausted by the time he heads to class that he could really use a healthy boost. Low-call Wild berry would be such a big help.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:18 am
I would love to try the lo-cal peach in cans. I usually drink a glass of sangria every day when I come home from work, but it is making me fat! This would help my waistline and my wine bill….
June 25th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Their cans of energy drink would definitely fit my lifestyle since I’d never take time to mix the powder and I don’t like chewy things. Their lemon-lime would be a good flavor for me since it could replace the lemon lime sodas I drink several times a week.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:51 am
I would like to try the low cal peach mango. It will replace my Diet Coke habit. Thanks.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:57 am
I would probably choose the powdered drink mix because I always think those are the best value. I don’t like to drink coffee as much in the summer so this would be perfect.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
The Peach Mango sounds great. I am a Diet Pepsi addict and would love to replace even some of this with something healthier.
June 25th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
The lo-cal peach mango sounds fantastic! I’m currently addicted to Diet Dr Pepper.
June 25th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
I would like to try Peach Mango to take the place of Diet Coke (shh!) Thank you so much for the contest!
June 25th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
The low cal wild berry can would replace my grande iced upside down caramel macchiatto.
June 25th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
WOW
A low-cal energy drink. Love the idea. The low-cal Wild Berry would be great. I don’t drink anything for energy but it would replace one of many unsweetened iced teas I drink daily.
June 25th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I’d enjoy the Lemon-Lime flavor. I checked out the website all about FRS and found it interesting. I hate the skin on apples, even though I know it is good for you. And the Quercetin in this drink will replace that. You have no idea how happy that makes me!
I also am very intrigued by the fact it has 100% of the daily B vitamins and C and E.
Most energy drinks are’t for me, I prefer vitamin water. But I like the sound of FRS and will be looking forward to giving it a try. Especially now that it’s summer. We surf, sail and kayak all summer so these cans will go right into the cooler for the beach.
June 25th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Peach Mango would be my favorite. I am always interested in trying new drinks, bars, etc. Peach Mango would replace my chocolate SlimFast drink that I drink everyday before I start work in the a.m.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
I like the lowcal Wild Berry. It would replace too much chocolate!
June 25th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I love lemon lime flavors.
I will try very hard to use it to replace diet pepsi, but no promises, i am addicted
June 25th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Peach mango sounds great to me! It would replace my diet coke.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Now is the time to cut costs, so that is why I like the drink powder mix. Nothing like a great peach flavor in the summer. It is so much tastier than apple juice.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
I don’t drink an energy drink because up to now I haven’t found any I considerered healthy. So I am excited to know more about FRS. Unfortunately their website isn’t working right. I can see the home page but that is about it. Would love to see a full list of ingredients. I would probably choose the Lemon-Lime in a can. Thanks!
June 25th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
would love peach! what a delicious drink.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:53 am
I would like to try any of the flavors in cans. I have a long commute to work, and by the time I finally arrive, I’m ready for a “pick me up”! I currently just visit the vending machine and get something, anything with caffeine in it to give me a boost. I’d love to feel that I was doing something great for my body as well!
June 26th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I would replace the two 20 oz Mountain Dew bottles that I drink every morning with the Low Cal Wild Berry canned drink. I would like to get away from the large amounts of caffeine I’m drinking to “wake up” and this seems the best way to do it. The Low Cal Wild Berry only has the caffeine of 1/2 cup of coffee and I think one can would replace both Mountain Dews. I also buy the Mountain Dews from a vending machine so the FRS drink will be even cheaper than that per can.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:05 am
I would like to try the Peach… this would replace my Southern sweet tea addiction!
June 26th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Mmm… the low cal berry sounds really delicious… and would replace the loads of coffee I drink to keep up with 3 kids and working from home. Well, I should say, some of the coffee. Let’s not get crazy, here.
June 27th, 2008 at 5:56 am
love this drink

June 27th, 2008 at 8:59 am
This product looks great. I’d like to try the low cal Peach Mango in cans. I’d love to try it before my workouts. It would probably replaced one of my cups of coffee, or the protein drinks I sometimes use before workouts.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I’d like the powder mix form for home for my family—especially lemon lime.
And for me—on the go—definately want to try the mango (my favorite flavor!) in the can.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:07 am
I would replace my daily Rockstar energy drink with cans of FRS in wild berrie and orange. I am really struggling with energy right now so I would love to try these drinks. Thank you!
June 27th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
I think I would swap my coffee for the peach mango. It sounds delicious
Or maybe even my coffee and my diet coke… Gosh, I think I must be a caffeine addict! After reading this, I think I’d much rather be an FRS addict. It sounds yummier
Not to mention healthier…
June 27th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
With an upcoming back surgery, I think I would enjoy the fresh taste of FRS in wild berry or orange for the incitive to do my recovery exercizers and not yell to loud from the pain of the surgery. HA, my poor hubby for awhile.
June 28th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Peach Mango is my favorite.
June 28th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
My husband would love to try all of the flavors I think, but especially the Low Cal Orange. He currently uses 5 Hour Energy.
June 29th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Oh, no. I have to reveal my fix? Bah! It’s Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, and maybe some South Beach cookies.
Thanks!
As far as which one I’d choose, I’m a peach-person, so I’m going with Lo-Cal Peach Mango. How exciting
June 30th, 2008 at 6:25 am
I’d LOVE to try the Lemon Lime. I’m always drawn to that combo. Hopefully this would replace my iced coffee habit, which, frankly, is more expensive than energy drinks.
June 30th, 2008 at 8:36 am
I’d probably choose the peach mango and orange concentrate.
I’ve been relying on Cherry Pepsi lately… not a good thing!
June 30th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
The low-cal peach mango sounds delicious! So this would replace my coffee habit
: )
June 30th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
I’d love to try out the lo cal Wild Berry can. It would probably replace my Caribou Iced Coffee in the morning. It is nice to have something cold for a pick me up in the summer. Thanks so much for the contest!
June 30th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
The Lo Cal Peach Mango or Orange sounds wonderful. I’m a huge water drinker but this could replace one of my morning cups of coffee!
