Who knew you could nurse in silk?

March 2nd, 2008

Bebe au Lait“Breastfeeding is something to be proud of. For those of us who are not so comfortable breastfeeding in public, Bebe au Lait has got you covered—in style.” Many of you have heard of Bebe au Lait. The brand, which also includes Hooter Hiders, are known for stylish fabrics and a design that makes it easy to nurse while out and about.

Bebe au LaitWhat you might not know is in November, 2007 Bebe au Lait announced a new line of imported silk nursing covers. Yes, I said “imported silk.” Now if that’s not nursing in style I don’t know what is! The new silk line is available in two Asian-inspired patterns, a blush pink and a peacock blue. The “Monaco” covers are handmade and reverse to solid black so you needn’t worry about color coordinating. Love that! And of course the new designs have the patent-pending neckline so you and your little one can oogle at each other the entire feeding. This eye contact is my favorite part of nursing and if you’re using a blanket or other cover-up while out in public you miss out on this bonding time.

Bebe au LaitWhile shopping for your new Hooter Hider you’ll want to browse their line of organic nursing covers and burp cloths. Oh, and be sure to check out the White Eyelet Bebe au Lait nursing cover. Made from imported European fabric it’s one of my favorites, and not just because I was able to personally review it. ;) I also received a couple burp cloths and I totally love their extra length and stylish fabric accent!

Bebe au Lait’s nursing covers are stylish yet functional enough so you can use them to cover baby from bad weather while in a front carrier or sling, or you can even use it as a light blanket if you’ve left the house without a spare. And at around $40—divided by the number of times you’ll be nursing in public—it’s a totally sensible investment (in case you have a hubby who needs convincing). —Emily
