Sites of interest
June 13th, 2007
Every now and then I come across must-share websites and like throwing them your way as part of the Daily Dish. Hopefully you don’t mind and maybe you will actually find one of these sites useful. I sure did!
The first, which I read about in Real Simple magazine, is called BugMeNot.com. BugMeNot.com was created “as a mechanism to quickly bypass the login of websites that require compulsory registration and/or the collection of personal/demographic information.” Basically the site gives you logins you can use to register on a host of popular sites without having to provide your own personal information. With accounts for close to 162,000 sites you’re sure to find something useful here. Sites include the New York Times, New York Post, IMDB, and YouTube to name a few. BugMeNot.com also includes links for acquiring disposable email addresses and coupon codes.
The second site I found while searching for a better price on those not-so-cheap Pantone books used in graphic and other design. Academic Superstore is a website where you can purchase everything from hardware and software to books and teaching aids at a discount. As some of you may know, academic discounts usually require a current college ID or other proof you’re attending a college or university. But at Academic Superstore, if you’re a student or parent of student currently attending classes from kindergarten to college—yes, I said kindergarten!—you can buy most of the products on the site at the special academic discount. So all I needed to purchase the Pantone Color Bridge at about half the retail price was a copy of my third-grader’s most recent report card. Now that’s cool! Just be sure and read any and all restrictions or guidelines because some manufacturers require full-time enrollment.
If you’ve got a favorite informational or helpful website, please share it with other Daily Dish readers by posting a comment below. I love learning about sites I wouldn’t normally have found on my own!—Emily
