phil&teds–a most excellent adventure!
May 3rd, 2007
This review is going to be a bit on the lengthy side but I promise it will be well worth your time, especially if you’re in the market for a new stroller. And even better, I’ve quoted my husband here and there so you won’t have to take my word for it””you’ve got an engineer’s opinion as well!
I recently received the phil&teds sport buggy from Regal+Lager in the freshest—and I mean freshest—spring green. But before I go on and on about this fabulous stroller I just have to say I absolutely love the phil&teds “vibe.” Their literature is tongue-in-cheek and full of humor. I actually read their “Survival of the Hippest” booklet from cover to cover. Product descriptions have never been so enjoyable a read! I loved this statement on the first page: “In order to survive you have to know how to adapt. This is your survival guide to the magic & mysteries of a most excellent life with kids. Embrace the journey.” Or this comment on the page for phil&teds escape carrier: “The best place to discover the world is from atop a parent’s shoulders.” Love that!
Now back to the buggy. This seemingly simple sport buggy is actually an amazing 4-in-1 stroller. From newborn to toddler to baby & toddler to two toddlers, this stroller has versatility written all over it. With my husband’s help and with comments like “that is SO cool” (referring to the easy removable wheels) and “this a freakin’ awesome piece of engineering” (referring to the stroller in general), we got the stroller put together in a small amount of time. Oh, and I forgot his comment on the zipper pulls: “Look at those zipper pulls—even those are cool!” Of course I was impressed with features like the totally flat newborn bed, lightweight frame, and the adjustable ergonomic handle. My son could not stop climbing up in the thing begging for a ride around the house. He even wanted us to buckle him in, something I can’t say he’s ever wanted before!
But the coolness doesn’t stop there. This little baby comes with an optional double kit so you can take it from “ones” to “twos” with a simple upgrade. The double kit allows you to use this stroller with a baby & toddler or two toddlers, and it doesn’t take up the whole store aisle when navigating (I can’t say that about my old double stroller, that’s for sure). I almost forgot to mention one of my husband’s favorite features of the new stroller, the “little angels & little devils” board game that came as part of the stroller’s packaging. With a cut-out die and colored buggy pieces for counters, you’ve got a board game designed to prepare you for life with kids. Spaces on the board include “arrange to direct credit your entire salary to your local supermarket. look cheerful” and “smear peanut butter onto the sofa. add lipstick. attempt to remove with crayon. be cheerful.” Does any of that sound familiar? I thought so!
If you’re still reading this than congrats on making it through quite possibly the longest review yet, but before I finish I want to mention a couple other fantastic products I received from the Regal+Lager family. I was able to check out gr8x’s Baby Traveller Deluxe all-in-one diaper bag and phil&teds metoo clip-on chair. Though my husband didn’t get a chance to comment on their engineering, from what I’ve seen I’d say they’re pretty freakin’ awesome as well! ““Emily
