Fashion Show – Princesstomato

February 10th, 2007

We’re going funky and original this week in our Boutique Cafe Fashion Show. We wanted to feature the incredible artwork, fashion and design of Teri from Princess Tomato. Her lifelike hand-painted clothing with whimsical touches are legendary in the eBay boutique world. We’re thrilled to showcase Princess Tomato this week.

When asked about her inspirations, Teri says:

“Okay, okay,,,what inspires me? Probably sounds really dumb, but I do like to crack myself up. When I think of a character or subject I want to paint, I love to think about being in that character’s world. If I were really there, what would I be looking at, doing, thinking? When an idea makes me laugh or smile, then I am usually inspired to build upon it and complete it.Princess Tomato

Here is a quote by Gustav Klimt that I just ran across. Fits my mood for the day:
“Whoever wants to know something about me – as an artist which alone is significant – they should look attentively at my pictures and there seek to recognise what I am and what I want.”-Gustav Klimt

Ideas and opportunities usually come to me best when I have a spirit of gratitude about me. I cannot be grateful ENOUGH for being able to create and do what I love. That people would even consider buying what I do is just amazing to me. I have so many ideas and projects on the to-do list that it can be overwhelming. My current prayer is that one day I will be prepared enough to do something really wonderful—that the ideas that are currently on the back burner out of necessity will be able to become realities. Thanks so much, Daria, for having the vision to put together Boutique Cafe! It is a great community for designers and artists! ”

You can learn more about Princess Tomato and see her huge portfolio on their website as well as their eBay Me page. To shop Princess Tomato auctions and listings you can find them on eBay. **Please allow time for the show to load. Fashion Shows are in Quicktime format, a free download here.

So many bags, so little time

February 8th, 2007

SkoochAnd Skooch diaper bags make it that much harder to downsize my collection. The line of bags from Skooch combine the three all-important F’s: fun, fashion, and function. The mom behind the designs wanted a diaper bag that was “an extension of a mom’s outfit””an accessory that would complete and outfit,” and these bags fit the bill.

Skooch, named after the nickname of the designer’s son, offers two fantastic collections, Mix It Up and Groovy. I was able to try out the Bubblegum bag from the Mix It Up collection. Bubblegum, which brings a smile to any kid’s face, is a great name for a bag that brought a smile to mine. The color was fresh and vibrant, and the features didn’t disappoint.

SkoochThe bag offers an exterior fabric of waterproof 600 denier polyester with a water repellant finish, clean up is a breeze. This diaper bag has three front pockets, three back pockets (one of which could fit a small laptop), an oversized water resistant changing pad, metal feet to protect the bottom of the bag, and comfortable shoulder straps that confert into a stroller bag. And that’s just the outside! The interior offers pockets galore with a water resistant lining as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Everything in your Clutches

February 8th, 2007

The Diaper ClutchWhen I find a nifty new product, I want to grab right on to it and keep it in my clutches! That’s what makes The Diaper Clutch such a brilliant addition to my diaperbag. Now I have a convenient way to keep wipes and diapers together, in an attractive little wonder clutch.

At first glance The Diaper Clutch looks like a cute attractive little cloth bag. Oh, but there’s goodness inside, this clutch is smartly designed for some great functional use. I was impressed and surprised by the access window for wipes. The design of this product makes it possible for you to use it multiple times and refill in a simple step. I love that I don’t need to fumble around in my diaper bag looking for the baby wipes case, with The Diaper Clutch all the necessities are right there in my grasp. Behind the wipe case area is a space for several diapers to wait for usage, and best of all the flap closes with velcro to keep it all together.

I love the fabric choices that awaited me at The Diaper Clutch website, they have many styles of fabric and once you have yours in hand it looks like a cute little trendy purse more than a baby changing system. That’s the Bonus! You look cute carrying it around and nobody need know that it’s diapers and wipes but you (and little junior of course). – Daria

The Diaper Clutch is offering Daily Dish readers 15% off your total order. Use promo code BC15 for the discount.

You actually can take it with you

February 6th, 2007

You know, they say you can’t take it with you, and though this may apply to fame and fortune, it no longer applies to food. DormBuys brings you two new ways for you to eat and run: Cereal on the Go and the Salad Blaster Bowl.

DormBuys Cereal on the Go actually keeps your milk cold and separate from your cereal””yes, cold and separate. So then when you’re ready for the ol’ dorm staple, simply pour the milk into the cereal bowl section for a quick snack. How easy is that? I don’t know about you, but I’ve never kicked the college cereal habit and still live off the stuff. My girls think it’s the greatest invention ever and I may have to pick up another one so they can both take cereal to school (only once in a while, of course). Cereal on the Go even comes with a folding spoon that snaps into the lid. Now that’s portable!

DormBuysThe Salad Blaster Bowl has a similar idea behind it””to avoiding sogginess at all costs. The Salad Blaster Bowl consists of generously sized plastic container perfect for salad, veggies, and other small meals. The lid compartment has a 2-oz. chamber for your favorite dressing. When you’re ready to eat simply press down on the top to dispense the dressing, shake the container, remove the lid, and enjoy! No slippery, slimy spinach leaves or romaine lettuce”¦now that’s something I can sink my teeth into!—Emily

RashadNot being able to resist buying a great pair of shoes for myself is normal, but thanks to See Kai Run, I’ve got a new addiction: shoes for my son.

We reviewed some shoes from See Kai Run back in September, and my son got more compliments on these shoes than any other pair. It was only with great sorrow I recently packed them away. Thank heavens See Kai Run launched a new Spring line so we could review another fantastic pair!

AvaThis time I was sent both the Rashad and the Ava, and it was the only time ever I wished I had twins! The Rashad was as stylin’ as ever with its two-tone olive color and orange and cream accents. I love how easily this shoe slips on my son’s feet without slipping so easily off. Even George loves putting these shoes on (he’s got his mom’s sense of style). Oh, and the Avas? To die for! This petite pink sandal with it pink, white and red dot accents is as girly as you can get without being too frou frou. I’m saving these just in case we go pink this next time “˜round!

See Kai Run’s new collection has some pretty awesome styles. My other favorites? The J’cito, the Hailey, the Ocean, and the Neo (gotta love the stripes on this Mary Jane). Looks like I better increase this year’s budget for children’s shoes!—Emily

Tea for two (one’s okay too)

February 4th, 2007

ClockItsI must confess my favorite hot drink is a rich and creamy hot chocolate, but a great herbal tea runs a close second. And the herbal fruit teas from Portsmouth Tea Company are my new favorite.

When I opened the package, the smell was absolutely delightful. I had to smell each and every wonderfully packaged tin, and then smell them all again. I swear the New England Blueberry Muffin smelled like a freshly baked blueberry muffin! Oh, and did I mention that their fruit infusions, or tisanes, can also be used as a base for fruit cups, punches, sorbets, ice cream, and fruit creams? Who knew?

FwingersThe teas come packaged in the greatest little tins with descriptions like “The moment you open this can the world will become a more vibrant place” (Apricot Peach Fruit Tea). Kind of makes you want to brew a cup every time you read it! And speaking of brewing, besides offering fabulous teas, Portsmouth Tea Company also sells a wonderful collection of teaware. I love my olive Stump Teapot (18 oz) and matching teacup. It’s like having my own private tea party every evening! Read the rest of this entry »

Your Bouncing Baby

February 2nd, 2007

Svan Bouncer If you’re on the hunt for a stylish and secure baby seat, the Svan Bouncer will end your search. The chic seat is the perfect place to sit your baby for a nice vantage point of them, and all the security that us Mom’s require. This gorgeous bentwood piece is not only a bouncer, but I honestly thought it was a gorgeous piece of furniture to have in baby’s room. Let’s face it, you can’t hold baby all day long and your little dimpled one can visit, bounce and coo while watching you do your aerobics in the living room, or while you’re cleaning the house.

What I adore about Svan is really the style of their products, they know that most parents want a stylish and chic piece of baby equipment. And Svan really delivers on style. Their bouncer is fully-adjustable and oh so comfortable. Your baby can take a nap in a reclined position, or sit upright for feedings. The padding is removable for cleaning, and the canopy is a very nice addition if you and baby are sitting out in the backyard for some fresh air. This product comes in four fashionable colors such as, Chocolate & Orange, Chocolate & Lilac, Black & Watermelon and Black & Navy Blue. You can also easily fold up your bouncer for travel or storage. It’s lightweight and recommended for babies up to 30 lbs. Bouncers have really come a long way, I was impressed with the steadiness of this unit, and could picture myself rocking a little one to sleep with the tap of my foot. I could also picture them excitedly bouncing and goofing around in their Svan Bouncer. Great now I can hear the ticking of my biological clock!Svan Bouncer

The Svan Bouncer is available through retailers all across North America, we’ve included the retailer listing for your convenience. So now we can all have a “Bouncing Baby boy or girl” and they’ll absolutely love it. Time to play – Daria
