Tea for two (one’s okay too)
February 4th, 2007
I must confess my favorite hot drink is a rich and creamy hot chocolate, but a great herbal tea runs a close second. And the herbal fruit teas from Portsmouth Tea Company are my new favorite.
When I opened the package, the smell was absolutely delightful. I had to smell each and every wonderfully packaged tin, and then smell them all again. I swear the New England Blueberry Muffin smelled like a freshly baked blueberry muffin! Oh, and did I mention that their fruit infusions, or tisanes, can also be used as a base for fruit cups, punches, sorbets, ice cream, and fruit creams? Who knew?
The teas come packaged in the greatest little tins with descriptions like “The moment you open this can the world will become a more vibrant place” (Apricot Peach Fruit Tea). Kind of makes you want to brew a cup every time you read it! And speaking of brewing, besides offering fabulous teas, Portsmouth Tea Company also sells a wonderful collection of teaware. I love my olive Stump Teapot (18 oz) and matching teacup. It’s like having my own private tea party every evening!
What I think is really cool about their line of fruit teas is that “served hot or over ice, this is a healthy way to introduce your children to the world of tea.” I can think of nothing better than sharing some quality time with my kids over what is truly a healthy drink. Did you know some health benefits of tea include healthy bones, weight loss, decreased chance of heart attack, stronger immune system, healthier skin, and even decreased risk of stomach and ovarian cancer? Amazing!
But don’t stop with the fruit teas. If you’re a connoisseur you’ll want to check out the rest of Portsmouth’s extensive line, which includes Kenya Black Tea, Avalanche Rooibos, Dragon Oolong, Masala Chai, and Mmmmango to name just a few (and I mean just a few). —Emily

I agree that some of the fruit teas taste great and are the best way to introduce tea to children. Great post!

Hey there,
Fruit teas are great, and make a wonderful new way to have iced tea. Since there are a decent amount of varieties, one can look forward to a new cup of chilled iced fruit tea anytime!
I’m just getting into the fruit herbal teas, but I still love my white, green, oolong, and black loose leaf teas! And yes…loose leaf is the way to go, avoid those bags.
