Nursery Rhyme Tease are cool!

January 15th, 2007

Nursery Rhyme TeaseEIEIO, The Cow Jumped Over the Moon, Humpty Dumpty Had A Great Fall, Itsy Bitsy Spider – all can be found on some of the cutest tees around Nursery Rhyme Tease. Read it and Wear it, is the slogan for Nursery Rhyme Tease an ingenious company making fun and fashion come together to promote literacy and cool style. My boys are in love with books and reading, when the package arrived from Nursery Rhyme Tease with a shirt and coordinating book for each of them to test, well let’s just say it was like Christmas morning all over again.

“After many years of reading and singing nursery rhymes, teacher turned mom, Heather Sievers, thought it would be fun to incorporate literacy and the joy of reading along with high fashion. For toddlers that is.” This momprenuer has brought her dream to fruition with a line of lovable, fun & wearable nursery rhyme tee shirts for toddlers, and the accompanying board book for your child to enjoy. One of the first things I noticed about Nursery Rhyme Tease when they arrived was the packaging, I love great presentation! Nursery Rhyme TeaseTheir tees are great quality, reasonably priced and the artwork is extraordinary on the tees. Let’s face it, anything that will inspire our children to take an interest in reading is time and money well spent. What an ideal gift for the little reader in your life! – Daria

Fashion Show – Oli*beli

January 12th, 2007

Oli*beliWhat brilliant a way to kick off the New Year, we have a dreamy new Fashion Show. This week’s featured designer is Kirsten from Oli*beli and you’re going to fall in love with her feminine and irresistible clothing for little girls.

I asked Kirsten about her inspirations for her designs:
“I design because it is my artistic outlet. I love to dream about a design and then make it! I am inspired by Olivia’s moods, but mostly by the fabric. The fabric tells me what to make with it.” – Kirsten

You can learn more about Oli*beli on their beautiful website. To shop Oli*beli auctions and listings you can find them on eBay as well as on Blossom St. Shoppes.**Please allow time for the show to load. Fashion Shows are in Quicktime format, a free download here.

Code, code, who’s got the code?

January 11th, 2007

CurrentCodes.comThis review is going to be short but oh-so-sweet. Ever view the empty coupon code box while checking out on a website and wish you had something to type in there? Yeah, me too. Well, CurrentCodes.com solves the empty coupon-code box problem.

CurrentCodes.com’s mission is “to have absolutely the best coupon code database on the Internet.” The site has a full-time staff dedicated to finding the latest coupon codes out there and verifying their accuracy. Apparently other sites exist listing coupon codes but they’re often personal homepages and the information can be less-than-accurate. With CurrentCodes.com you can browse by merchant, alphabetically, or by category. They currently have coupon codes for over 1,400 stores. Seriously—1,400! From 1-800-CONTACTS to Gap.com to Shoes.com they’ve got your coupon-code box covered. The only down side to CurrentCodes.com is you may feel the need to shop more just because you can get such great discounts. Hmmm…maybe that’s not such a down side…—Emily

Enjoy some old-time favorites

January 10th, 2007

Hometown FavoritesI just stumbled upon a hidden bookmark in my bookmarks list called HomeTown Favorites. How could I have forgotten about this treasure? HomeTown Favorites offers “old-time favorites and regionally exclusive foods,” but it’s so much more than that!

Click on The Candy Store and browse candy by decade from the 50’s to the 80’s or by candy type. You’ll find those good ol’ bubblegum cigars, candy dots, Fizz Wiz, Atomic Fireballs, and Abba-Zaba Taffy. Click on Holiday and you’ve got Jelly Belly Gummi Spiders and Brach’s Christmas Mellowcremes. Under Classics you’ll find Black Jack gum, those fabulous colored mini marshmallows, and even Sugar Lips Wax chewing gum. (Just don’t let your little one leave her wax lips on her tricycle seat in the middle of the day. Trust me, it ends badly!)

Atomic FireballsBesides The Candy Store, you’ve also got The Hard-to-Find Grocer with aisles and aisles full of regional and hidden treasures. You could spend hours just browsing the site’s shelves, from soft drinks (yes, they really have chocolate soda) to baking needs (Comstock sliced apples—impossible to find), to sauces and dressings (Hunana Hot Dai Duck Sauce, anyone?).

So check out Hometown Favorites and take a quick trip down memory lane. Just be warned—it will set your tummy growling!—Emily

Lovin’ the Take & Toss

January 10th, 2007

The First YearsI don’t know about you, but we have a pretty impressive collection of baby feeding gear in the kitchen. From sippee cups to suction-cup bowls to rubber-tipped spoons, we may just have a corner on the market. But out of all of it, I have to say my favorites are the ?storeId=10001&_catalogId_dummy=&categoryCatalogId=10052&categoryId=10628&_associationCatalogId_dummy=&_associationId_dummy=&bcId=&partNumber=&dummy0=&com.rc2corp.framework.commerce.action=CatalogNavigation&pager.offset=&selectedCatalog=10052&selectedCategory=10052%2C+10620&BreadCrumb=1168443799172%2C+Feeding+%26+Soothing%2C+10052%2C+10052%2C+10620%2C+%2C+&selectedCategory1=10052%2C10628%2Cnull%2Cnull&selectedCategoryName=Take+%26+Toss&selectCategories=10052%2C10628%2Cnull%2Cnull#7_0_21L”>Take & Toss line of snack cups and spill-proof cups from The First Years.

snack cupsI love the Perfect Portion Snack Savers because they have a lid the helps prevent spills. I can give these to my one-year-old and know that at least half of his Goldfish crackers will remain inside the cup. The opening is big enough to allow for little fingers to grab little snacks but not so big that when shaken ceremoniously dumps its entire contents! Read the rest of this entry »

Comfy as a pea in a pod

January 7th, 2007

bebePOD(Okay, I’m not really sure peas are comfy in their pods, but for the sake of this review, let’s assume so.) A while back I reviewed a product know as the Bumbo Baby Seat. As functional as it is, I wouldn’t say it’s the most stylish baby seat around. Sure it comes in six different colors, but does it have the sleek, chic lines of the bebePOD?

bebePODPrince Lionheart, the same company that brought you the Wheely Bug, has turned function into fabulous. Their soft and cushy baby seat, “the ultimate in infant positioning and support,” may only come in three colors, but its design is far more appealing than the Bumbo Baby Seat. The bebePOD utilizes your little one’s body weight to “ensure a safe and comfortable seating position without the need for uncomfortable straps.” The ergonomic design is not only chic but lightweight, durable, non-toxic, and easy to wipe clean. All I can say is “Wheeeee!”

January 4th, 2007

Wheely BugWell, that’s all George would say if he actually knew how to say “wheee” while taking his new Wheely Bug for a spin. Just what is a Wheely Bug? It’s only the latest and greatest must-have roll-around toy from Prince Lionheart.

George (and his sisters no matter how many times I told them they were too big for it) got to review the Wheely Bug while at Grandma and Grandpa’s house in California. Now George, whose legs were just barely long enough to let his feet touch the ground, got the biggest kick out of being pushed on the Wheely Bug by anyone and everyone who had enough energy to do a hundred laps around the house. His sisters, whose legs are far too long to sit on the thing, still managed to steal a few laps themselves (when Mom wasn’t looking). Heck, if I weren’t so grownup I would have taken a spin myself! The Cupcake Courier can also be used to carry mini cheesecakes or muffins (remove the trays and safely transport that decadent cake). Read the original review here.—Emily

A Wardrobe for Kenadie

January 2nd, 2007

Kenadie Auction and WardrobeHere’s a chance to get involved in a heartwarming cause. Kenadie Jourdin-Bromley, known around the world as “the littlest angel”, was born Feb.13, 2003, weighing just 2 lbs, 8 ounces. Kenadie was diagnosed with primordial dwarfism, a genetic condition that is believed to affect only about 100 people in the world. She isn’t expected to grow past about 30 inches or weigh more than 8 pounds.

So, Swanky Moms and Our Sponsors (including Boutique Cafe and Journal Modiste) will be building Kenadie a custom OOAK boutique clothing wardrobe, if you are interested in making or donating something for this beautiful little girl visit http://www.swankymoms.com/kenadie.html.

Swanky Moms has also put together an auction, for interested sponsors. Thank you all for your kind hearts.
