Fashion Show – Babette

November 3rd, 2006

BabetteWander with me through the delicate, wispy and wonderful this week as we spotlight the sumptuous designs of Geeta from Babette. Geeta’s vintage inspired designs and simplicity enrobe little girls in clothing to dream in. Geeta has a strong background in both fashion and design, her work is designed to last and constructed to become a cherished heirloom. When asked why she loves to design and what inspires her, this is what Geeta has to say:

“They say some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouth, well I believe I may have been born with a needle and thread in mine! My love of design comes from deep within. I think all human beings have dreams and visions and a need to feel alive- this is what drives me to create. Inspiration for Babette comes from the beautiful spirit of all children. It’s their untainted view of the world that I try and capture with little darling clothes that mirror the sweetness of their world”¦”Geeta.

You can learn more about Babetta on their about me page. To shop Babette search on their eBay listings. **Please allow time for the show to load. Fashion Shows are in Quicktime format, a free download here.

Something for your little genius

November 1st, 2006

Baby EinsteinWe are all the proud parents of our own little geniuses and I’m a big fan of anything that helps keep their little minds exercised (and a bit entertained). So when my mother-in-law bought George the new Baby’s First Moves DVD from Baby Einstein, I was pretty excited for a change from Baby Mozart and Baby Beethoven. I’m sure George was too!

“Dance! Twist! Clap! Encouraging playful discovery of movement and more.” This is the claim on the front of the package and I’d say the DVD pretty much lives up to it. George and I enjoyed watching other babies experience “movement milestones”””first steps, clapping, jumping, dancing, twisting. It wouldn’t be a Baby Einstein movie without their lovable puppets, and Baby’s First Moves doesn’t disappoint. As much as we love our Baby Mozart, I really enjoyed this new DVD as it gave George and me plenty of opportunities to interact with each other. We clapped, we touched our noses, we danced a few turns around the room and enjoyed some quality time together.

Baby’s First Moves incorporates the music of Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart, which I’m sure help stimulate an already genius brain. But I think it’s the clapping hands, touching noses, and dancing a few turns around the room with his mom that George will remember the most.—Emily

Diaper Changes a real Bummer?

November 1st, 2006

Diaper Genie II When my oldest son Dylan was an infant, I dealt with diapers in one of those ancient diaper pails with a removable lid. Once I used that system for a day or two I really realized that I needed to take each individual diaper outside to the trash. Then my son Joshy came along years later, and we were introduced to the Diaper Genie, a great product but it needed two hands free to twist the diaper into the plastic tube in order to seal it up. But hold your horses, I can’t believe how much I love the NEW Diaper Genie II!

The Diaper Genie II is an evolved form of the original, but it has some features that make it far superior. The major improvement is oder control, with Diaper Genie II there is a nifty airtight clamp inside the pail. All you do is take the diaper, wrap it up tightly, open the Diaper Genie lid and push the diaper down below the air tight clamp. It’s SO easy! I quite honestly tested this out with some hesitation, not wanting my bathroom to smell. But test it we did. Noah provided the means, I pushed the diaper into the new Diaper Genie II and presto – 1 week later and still absolutely no odor is in that room. It’s like daisies in May in our home and I don’t have to run the diapers outside every few hours.

With the new design, it comes fully assembled and ready to go. No need to fumble with the canister, bags or instructions – they’ve made it so simple. The Genie II is also hygienic, diapers will only touch the film and not the pail so it’s mess free and actually a pleasant way to dispose of the less pleasant. I was excited to hear that the Diaper Genie II holds up to 180 diapers – talk about a windfall!! No seriously, if it can hold that many diapers, all while being airtight and odor-free Mommy can truly be a happy camper. The film is a special seven-layer barrier for the ultimate confidence.

If diaper changes have become a real bummer – try the NEW Diaper Genie II by Playtex. As they say, It’s proven #1 with #2! – Daria
