It’s time to go Bistro, Baby!
August 17th, 2006
Do you ever stumble upon something you wish you’d had years ago, as it would have made life so much easier? That’s exactly how I feel about Baby Bistro Brands. The Baby Bistro Box and Toddler Bistro Box are two must-have resources for today’s moms.
Designed by Santa Barbara nutritionist Christina Schmidt, M.S., the Bistro boxes organize everything we moms want (and should) know about feeding our little ones from birth to age three. The recipe-like cards come in a retro-style flip top box and are overflowing with a wealth of important information such as foods to avoid, nutrient needs at each stage, simple and healthy recipes, shopping tips, and even fun ideas to do as a family. All this and all at my fingertips!
I took a closer look at the Baby Bistro Box to see what guidance it gives on feeding my nine-month-old. It took me a long time to get to the “Entrees 8-12 mos.” section as I got caught up reading everything else along the way. I found information for expectant moms, guidelines on nutrition for breastfeeding, common allergies, foods to avoid (“Fishy Fish,” “Chancy Cheeses,” “Vexing Veggies”), signs your little one is ready for solids, and easy and healthy made-from-scratch recipes””and that’s before you even get to “Entrees 8-12 mos.!” Oh, and I haven’t even touched on the Toddler Bistro Box, though I have looked through it and I can tell it’s going to make for some great reading””and some great nutrition for my kids.
I could go on and on but I think I’ll leave it to you to unwrap the delicious information inside these magnificent little boxes.—Emily

What a perfect companion to every mother’s (or mom-to-be) kitchen. That has got to be a dream when it comes to helping mom’s figure things out since most of us learn as we go! A helping hand is always helpful, especially in the kitchen. This would be the perfect gift for a baby shower, and you are sure to be the only one that thought of something so handy and unique for a gift! Bravo on the find!

As a natural/holistic nutrition consultant, I think this is a great idea (wish I would have thought of it!). This will absolutely help make new mommies lives much easier. Thank you for the great baby shower gift idea!

Finally! Ideas that will help me to get my two year-old (who ate EVERYTHING last year!) eat something other than bread! Maybe I can get the rest of the family to eat it, too.

Wow! Wonderful! I would be sooooo happy to have this in my kitchen (the toddler version). Although my DD is a good eater, lately she has been refusing foods that she previously loved. I would love to be able to switch it up a bit and give her tasty treats that I know are good for her. Plus, they sound yummy for Mummy, too! LOL!
What a terrific idea.

What a great idea! I wish I’d known about this when mine were younger. Perfect for baby shower gifts, too. I’ll definitely be picking one or two of these up!

OMG that is so cute. Wish I had new about them sooner. My sister just had her second baby in July and my SIL is having a shower this weekend. I think I will still order two anyway even though they won’t be here on time for the shower.
Thanks for posting a great find.

Thanks so much for the heads up on such a great product…I love the Toddler Bistro Box! Feeding my picky 22-month old is not a nightmare anymore. I have only tried a few of the recipes so far, but they are yummy and easy, too! Christina has definitely saved me and Michael from continuing to be frustrated at meal time!
